It's time to E.A.T!
Our first “Elite Infield Camps” took place over the weekend. We heard great things about what the kids learned and took away from camp. We focused on the mindset along with all attributes in becoming an elite infielder. Here’s what one parent had to say:
We absolutely loved the camp!! Cooper so enjoyed it. It worked on fielding fundamentals that quite frankly any player could benefit from not just infielders. It also focused on the mental aspect of the game which is SO important these days with kids. On how to encourage our teammates, how to be able strike out or miss a ball and not get upset but shake it off and try again. How to say I am the best and believe it. Kids so need that these days!! Loved it!
The footwork part was also great, and I could already see improvement. Lots of drills we can do at home too!

Bring the JUICE!
The word contagious is a word that we have had to become all too familiar with over the last couple of years. I don’t want to spend time talking about that kind of contagious though.
How about our energy being contagious? We have all seen that player who just has more energy than others and it can be contagious and take over a team. Sometimes good and sometimes bad.
We have a saying to our older players to “Bring the Juice”. Bring the energy to all we do. What energy we bring is how we are going to play.
So, our question is, Are you a thermostat or a thermometer?
A thermometer can only read what the temperature is, it can’t do anything about it. A thermostat sets the temperature, or in a team setting, sets the tone for how the team will operate.

With a lot of our players ramping up to take the field, lets remind them and ourselves on how we act, how we treat others, and what words we use can set the tone, for the good or to a detriment for the team.
Philippians 2:4
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Ephesians 4:32
Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Kindness is contagious too! Kindness is something to run towards, not distance ourselves from.
When you go through your daily lives, think about what type of energy and kindness you bring. Do you set the temperature?
Mental Skills Coach Justin Su'a with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays says:
“You can be the fountain or the drain. FOUNTAINS: Bring life and energy to their team. They are positive, encouraging and make everyone around them better. DRAINS: Suck the energy out of the room.”
